Correct Use of An Ergonomic Chair

Ergonomic Chairs are designed in such a technical form that it supports the spine, back and legs for optimal posture. Improper posture for extended hours creates strain on the spine and legs, which causes pain. These chairs minimize strain and prevent pain and other health problems associated with poor sitting posture.

You can exploit their benefits by the correct use, as the improper use of even the best ergonomic chairs lessens their effectiveness. The best results can only be seen if you use your ergonomic chair in the right way. The following steps will guide you to correctly use an ergonomic office chair while enhancing their benefits.

Steps to use an Ergonomic Chair in the correct way.

  • The first step should be to make yourself aware with all the special features of your ergonomic chair. Majority of the chairs has several levers or buttons which have adjustment features like chair height and lumbar support.
  • Position a floor mat as on carpeted floors you will experience smooth movement of the chair. Pushing or dragging these chairs over the carpet while sitting in the chair can fabricate unnecessary strain on the chair and your body.

  • Adjust the seat height of the seat, using the appropriate lever or button so that your upper arms are parallel to your spine and your elbows bend at an angle of 90 degrees. You should adjust the height to allow your feet to rest flat on the floor without any strain. Take time to find the optimum height.

  • Place the lumbar support for the most comfortable position. Sit nearby to your desk with your bottom against the chair with a modest arch in your back. Be sure that you don’t slouch or lean on the chair. Also adjust the height of your feet on the footrest.

  • Do all the other adjustments according to your requirements. Also, keep a check on the maintenance of the chair. Check all the minute part of the chairs regularly.
